The ancestors of the Navarro Correas family are the Correas family, with a long tradition in producing fine wine. Their story dates back to 1798, when Don Juan de Dios Correas first planted vines in Mendoza, in vineyards nestling in the foothills of the Andes mountain range. Don Juan de Dios was also actively involved in the public life of the province of Mendoza. He was the Alderman at the Mendoza Town Hall in 1814 and the governor in 1824, and he had the opportunity of helping the army of his friend, Gen San Martín.
Since mid 1800, and for one century, the Correas family sold their grapes and wines to other producers. In 1974, Don Edmundo Navarro Correas, direct descendant of Juan de Dios Correas, decided to bottle wine under his own name.
With an operation more than two centuries old, the traditional Bodega Navarro Correas is currently one of the leaders in the premium wine market. Since 1996 it has been owned by CINBA S.A. and, through that company, by the Diageo international holding, the most important producer of beverages in the world. |
