||Sagatiba was created by a Brazilian entrepreneur Marcos de Moraes. Born and bred in Sao Paulo, Marcos always defied constraints. For him, all was possible, and he went out to prove it.
Passionate about Brasil, the Brasil of yesterday and today, Marcos wanted to bring the flavor of his country to the world and evolve the category at home. He wanted to create a high-quality premium brand and give sugarcane spirits, known as cachaca in Brasil, their rightful place competing at the forefront of the global spirits market.
After some years of successful growth, building the brand in Brasil and several countries around the world, Marcos decided that Sagatiba deserves more relevance in Brazil and abroad. In working closely with Gruppo Campari, he found the right company to take Sagatiba to new levels. In August 3rd 2011, Gruppo Campari closed the deal to buy Sagatiba. With Sagatiba’s acquisition, Gruppo Campari has now a strong brand in the cachaca segment, the largest in Brazil and one of the most promising categories internationally.
