Wine has been made on the Schloss Johannisberg estate since 1720 making it one of the oldest vineyards in Germany. In 1816, Prince von Metternich was granted the estate for his work in facilitating the Congress of Vienna after the defeat of Napoleon and dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire. This winery is so distinctive they are exempt from having to provide a village name on the bottle. This is a dry blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier in the fashion of French Sparkling Rose. The nose possesses aromas of strawberries with a distinctive smoky notes.
