Mason Cellars is a family owned and operated winery, founded in l993 by winemaker Randy Mason and his wife, Megan in Oakville, California. Randy attended U.C. Davis and received his degree in Fermentation Science. After 20 years of winemaking and vineyard management for other distinguished Napa Valley wineries, such as Chappellet, Lakespring and Napa Wine Company, they launched their own wine label – Mason Cellars. The rule of success is meticulous harvesting of the grapes, picking some green grapes for their acid structure and blending them with golden and quite ripe Sauvignon Blanc for complex fruit characteristics. With the creation of their first Sauvignon Blanc in l996, Mason began to develop his own Sauvignon Blanc house by adding another Pomelo. The Wine Spectator has referred to Randy Mason as “one of the best Sauvignon Blanc producer’s in California.”
