Calvano Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is deep ruby in color with garnet highlights. The nose is vivid, with assertive wild cherry fruit and nuances of nutmeg and cinnamon spice and hints of violet. The sweet fruit impressions are repeated on the palate along with firm, well-structured tannins and acidity in a well-balanced, slightly rustic style that is very distinctive and lively.

| Wine maker notes |
| The grapes are harvested at optimum maturity in the second half of October. Before and during vinification, focus is on the most gentle treatment possible of the grapes. They are gently destemmed and crushed with minimum trauma to the skins, and undergo alcoholic fermentation in recently installed stainless steel tanks over four to five days at a temperature of 28ºC (79ºF). The must remains in contact with the grape skins for a minimum of 12 days, and the maceration is followed by a full malolactic fermentation.
Aging takes place in traditional Slavonian oak casks for a minimum of 18 up to 24 months followed by at least six months in bottle prior to release. The Fattoria di Gracciano’s entire yield is vinified on the estate to produce both the primary wine, Calvano Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG, and a classic second wine under the Rossi di Montalcino DOC denomination.
