Good dark red. Musky, slightly medicinal aromas of raspberry, menthol, spicy oak and truffley underbrush. Juicy and firm but a bit disjointed, with some acidity yet to be absorbed. There’s a restrained sweetness and decent extract to the flavors of dark fruits, marzipan, spices and truffle, but this distinctly tannic wine is a bit youthfully awkward today, and could use a bit more flesh and concentration. Steve Tanzer 88 points (Jul 2009)
