Poliziano Madrone di Lohsa Toscana 2006

Poliziano Madrone di Lohsa Toscana 750ml 2006
Sku: 1582186*

The Lohsa estate, located in Maremma in southern Tuscany, was purchased in the late 1990’s and is Poliziano’s second largest holding. This 65 acre property is planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon followed by Prugnolo Gentile, Ciliegiolo, Malvasia Nera and Canaiolo and supplies the grapes for Morellino di Scansano and Mandrone di Lohsa Rosso. All the fruit is hand-picked.

Tasting notes
This structured red offers touches of black cherry, earth and graphite on the long and pleasant finish.

Wine maker notes
Grapes are grown on 9 hectares (22 acres) of vineyards planted at a density of 6,000 vines per hectare, 100 meters (328 feet) above sea level. The soil is mainly sandstone, with some skeletal components.

Technical notes
(80% Cabernet Sauvignon/10% Petit Verdot/10% Alicante). Fuit from a 22 acre south/southwest facing parcel situated at 328 feet was macerated and fermented separately for 20-25 days. The wine aged for 18 months in new French oak barriques followed by six months in bottle. Powerful yet elegant, the Cabernet provides smooth tannins and structure while the Alicante and Petit Verdot add ripe, round and sunny red fruit expressions.

Food pairing
Enjoy with red meat, game, and mature cheeses.
