Bacio Divino was founded by Claus Janzen in 1993. While
working in Switzerland, he fell in love with Burgundy in
particular, a Chorey-les- Beaune. His passion led him to France
where he spent a year and a half visiting the top properties in
the Rhone, Provence and Burgundy. In the late 1980s, Claus
visited Napa Valley and met Charlie Wagner, founder of
Caymus Vineyards and became friends with Charlie’s son
Chuck Wagner. After 12 years at Caymus, Claus launched
Bacio Divion in 1993. Bacio Divino – Italian for divine kiss – is a
blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Petite Sirah, Syrah
and Merlot, the cepage will vary depending on the vintage.
Bacio Divino owns three, eight acre hillside vineyards located in
Dutch Henry Canyon near Howell Mountain. Wine consultants
Nils and Kirk Venge advise Claus on winemaking and viticulture
decisions.
| Tasting notes |
| A dark ruby color, the wine offers aromas of blackberry and cassis, with hints of sweet vanilla. On the palate, rich and elegant fruit forward flavors integrate nicely with nuances of toasty oak. |
