Clarendon Hills Grenache Hickinbotham 2006

Clarendon Hills Grenache Hickinbotham 750ml 2006
Sku: 1754011*

This wine forms part of Clarendon Hills’ ‘Cru’ classification. The Hickinbotham is more generous on the fruit depth than the neighbouring Clarendon site (10 meters away on the south side of this hill) and luxurious in the mouth. It is typically dark cherried and juicy – and the light, fresh, herb overtone nuances create a stone fruit/dried apricot character. Juicy and fresh, this laser beam of focus is best consumed within its first ten years of life.

The 2006 Grenache Hickinbotham Vineyard, from a vineyard planted in 1920 is exceptionally aromatic with notes of crushed rock, smoke, violets and black cherry. It is more structured than the Clarendon and will benefit from 3-4 years of cellaring.
The 2006 Grenache Hickinbotham Vineyard offers more aromatic complexity as well as several years of aging potential

The Hickinbotham family are instrumental players in Australian wine history, and Alan Hickinbotham bought this estate in 1960. Clarendon Hills sources wines from this stately vineyard to produce a single site Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and old-vine Grenache – all detailed by the Hickinbotham family name. Richly compact soils provide depth and a signature across the varietal spectrum.
