Beaulieu Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve Georges de Latour 1.50L 2008
Sku: 1796118*

The 1936 Georges de Latour Private Reserve, Napa Valley’s first reserve wine, gained international recognition. Grapes selected from the finest blocks of our historic BV vineyards on the Rutherford Bench. Splash of Petit Verdot added violet nuances and structure. Our flagship wine—for life’s most important celebrations.

Bright, deep ruby-red. Enticing violet perfume lifts the pure aromas of cassis, mocha and exotic spices. Creamy, lush and deep, but with a lovely light touch for such a rich wine. More red fruits than black in the mouth. Utterly seductive, beautifully balanced cabernet with a very subtle yet palate-staining finish featuring thoroughly buffered tannins. Even more palate-caressing than the 2009, but also built for a graceful evolution in bottle.

Another brilliant offering is the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve. It possesses a dense ruby/purple color along with terrific structure, lots of creme de cassis, minerality, beautiful purity of black currants and cherries, a judicious touch of oak, and a full-bodied, structural profile that is almost Bordeaux-like. This complete, rich and promising effort should be a 25-30-year wine.

Impressive for its stylish delicacy, finesse and subtle details, this firm red offers complex loamy earth, cherry, currant and plum flavors that build and gain traction on the finish, where the tannins have a pleasing loamy edge. Drink now through 2022.—J.L.
