Sagrantino is the vine and the wine that embodies the very nature of Montefalco in the oenological world, thus giving meaning to the word terroir. Its unique qualities cannot even be approached anywhere else. A new emotion in every sip.
| Tasting notes |
| A DOCG classified wine made from 100% Sagrantino grapes harvested from the premier vineyard of the Tabarrini estate, Colle alle Macchie. This vineyard sits some 380 meters above sea level and enjoys south, southeast exposure. Beyond elevation and exposure, Colle alle Macchie is distinct from the other two vineyards in its micro climate and soil composition. The latter is comprised of clay-lime with a cobblestone presence. The wine is intense, dry and offers complex aromas and tastes. This is a wine produced with the best of cellars in mind and will compare favorably with the finest offerings of California, Italy or France. Colle alle Macchie is produced in extremely limited quantities (fewer than 7,000 bottles per year!) and allocated to Tabarrini’s most precious customers.
