Frankland Estate Riesling Poison Hill 2012

Frankland Estate Riesling Poison Hill 750ml 2012
Sku: 1819832*

Established in 1988 by Barrie Smith and Judi Cullam, Frankland Estate is a family owned and operated winery located in the Frankland River district, a cool climate region situated 124 miles inland from the Southwest coast of Western Australia. Isolation Ridge Vineyard sits within the family’s 3,000 acre property on which the family has run their sheep and wool growing enterprise since 1974. Their 74 acre vineyard was planted in 1988 to regional soils (aka coffee rock) of ironstone and limonite cemented sand. The vines slowly mature over long dry summers and cold wet winters, are dry farmed and yields are kept low. Winemaker Judi Cullam is assisted by her children, viticulturalist Elizabeth Smith and operational manager, Hunter Smith. Isolation Ridge was certified organic by ACO (Australian Certified Organics) and the fruit for Rocky Gully wines and the single vineyard Rieslings is sourced from locally certified organic growers...

Tasting notes
Elements of orange blossom, wet stone, citrus and honeysuckle are laced with minerality and lifted acidity on the long and dry finish.

Wine Advocate 92 points (Aug 2013)
The 2012 Poison Hill Riesling entices with a wonderfully perfumed nose of lime cordial, honeysuckle, white peaches and coriander seed with hints of wet stones and white pepper. Dry, light-bodied and ethereally delicate in the mouth, it offers a great intensity of citrus flavors and well balanced acidity through the satisfyingly persistent finish. Drink it 2014 to 2022+.
Wine Enthusiast 90 points (Sep 2013)
The most aromatically complex of the FE 2012 Rieslings, the Poison Hill offers beguiling scents of tangerine sherbet and Earl Grey tea. It’s almost too perfumy for its soft, medium-bodied structure and slightly dusty-textured finish, but those floral elements are also its appeal. Drink now-2020+.

Technical notes
Poison Hill Vineyard is a seven acre vineyard planted in 1988 to white clay and quartz soils. The grapes were gently pressed, allowed to settle overnight and fermented in stainless steel.
