Domaine Netofa Tinto 2011

Domaine Netofa Tinto 750ml 2011

The 2011 Tinto, from the Lower Galilee, hangs with the winery’s other submissions in concentration (and perhaps wins the battle), but clearly the most notable point here is the blend, which explains the name (no, I didn’t confuse this with one of my Portuguese reviews): 65% Touriga Nacional and 35% Tempranillo, aged for ten months in 400-liter French oak barrels (35% new, the rest used). The Lower Galilee is a long way from Douro, but this hangs together nicely. Laid back, with well-integrated tannins, it is quite lovely, with silky texture and hints of game. It adds a little more roundness and fullness to the Estate Red also reviewed this issue. Like all of the wines here, there is only modest concentration and only structure sufficient for the short to mid-term, but it drinks great and tastes great at the moment. It is a nice, early effort, this being just the second vintage. Drink it young for best results. There were 10,000 bottles produced.
