Shingleback Shiraz The Davey Estate 2011

Shingleback Shiraz The Davey Estate 750ml 2011
Sku: 1870761*

Tasting notes
Dark red-purple. Brooding mulberry & ripe strawberry aromas with base notes of mocha oak fill the glass. The mid-palate of this full-bodied wine overflows with a compote of dark berries & earthy minerality. The integrated fine-grained French & American oak further enhance the texture & length of the wine.

Rating
Wine Advocate 88 points (Dec 2012)
Deep purple-black in color, the 2011 Shingleback The Davey Estate Shiraz offers pronounced notes of warm plums, mulberries and blueberry pie with touches of licorice, chocolate box and vanilla. Full-bodied and very crisp in the mouth, it is richly fruited with black berry and menthol flavors framed by a medium level of grainy tannins and finishing long. Drink this one now to 2016.

Wine maker notes
Shiraz (predominantly clones 1654, BVRC12 and BVRC30), grown on both red & black soils over limestone on the Davey Estate Vineyard, are selected for this wine. The wine is hand-crafted in small open and static fermenters to maximise the potential of each small parcel of fruit. Maturation for an average of 14 months in fine grained American and French oak hogsheads softens, enhances & integrates the fruit & structural components of the wine.
