Michael David Cinsault Ancient Vine 2011

Michael David Cinsault Ancient Vine 750ml 2011
Sku: 1886469*

Having not produced a Cinsault since 1999, this newly leased vineyard gave Michael David the opportunity to expand its Rhone program and get back to bottling smaller lots. Planted in 1885 by Joseph Spenker, our Cinsault comes from Lodi’s oldest producing vineyard and one of the world’s oldest Cinsault plantings. Now farmed by Kevin Phillips and the vineyard team, this vineyard is head trained and dry farmed just how it was when planted 128 years ago.

This Cinsaultis a departure for Michael David in that it’s hardly oaked, leaner and more subtle in flavor and aroma than many of its other signature wines, a testament to both the 130-year-old Bechthold Vineyard and fine farming. Floral, it delights in cranberry and raspberry with a hint of peppery spice.
