A fine drop of Ardbeg bottled at cask strength. A marriage of Ardbeg from bourbon barrel and sherry butt which gives a sweet and smokey finish to this malt. Uigeadail is the loch from which all Ardbeg water flows.. Launched in 2003, Uigeadail remains one of Ardbeg's core offerings. Matured in a mix of sherry and bourbon barrels and bottled at cask strength. Peppery peat, warm tar, coffee grounds, machine oil, and black pepper on the nose. The palate is complex and rich, offering orange segments sprinkled with sea salt, dark chocolate, malt, and ever-present sweet peat. Nicely balanced. Lengthy in the finish, with smoky caramel.Reviewed by: Gavin Smith (Fall 2018)
A bouquet of old leather, campfire, and molasses-rich oats lead to a rich and powerful spirit, laden with cinammon, nutmeg, clove, and treacle, with wisps of smoke dancing between the front stage and suporting role. Uigeadail is a contemplative sipper. - 2019 Ultimate Spirits Challenge (Excellent, Highly Recommended) (Tried & True Award)
Dark amber color and brooding, smoky scent. Although intense peat is characteristic of Islay Scotches and Ardbeg in particular, here the smoke goes too far. It starts with lovely vanilla, brine and light smoke, but the peat party simply goes on far too long. Adding water softens the feel of this cask-strength Scotch, but does nothing to dampen the smoke. - K.N.. 54.2% abv. Matured in ex-bourbon American Oak and ex-Oloroso Sherry casks, Uigeadail - pronounced 'Ooga-dal' - is Gaelic for 'dark and mysterious place', named after the Ardberg's water source, Loch Uigeadail.Christmas cake by a smoky coal fire. Leather, toffees and chocolate raisins. Tarry smoke, flowering currants, walnut bread and mocha espresso.Rich, oily and mouth-coating - winter spices explode. Honey-glazed smoked food and treacle. Smoke builds like a fine Montecristo cigar. Amazingly long and chewy with lingering raisiny, deep mocha tones. Liquor
