This 2018 Pinot Grigio is made from 100% Pinot Grigio grown in Santa Barbara County, California. It opens with aromas of lychee, passion fruit, lemon curd and Kaffir lime. The palate is creamy with noticeable acidity, and it finishes clean with a lemon drop note. It was fermented with native yeast in stainless steel tanks, then aged about six months in neutral French oak. Alcohol is 12.5%.
Steve Clifton launched Palmina in 1995 and makes wines from Italian grape varieties grown in Santa Barbara County. He chose the area for climate and soils that resemble Piemonte and Friuli. Palmina's wines are made to go with food, and their Pinot Grigio was meant to be more than a "water substitute."
Try it with risotto, rich seafood dishes, cured meats, crab cakes or grilled fish.
