Tokaj Hétszölö, situated in the heart of Tokaj-Hegyalja on the southern slopes of Mount Tokaj, has always been considered one of the top estates of the region. Founded in 1502 by the Garai family, the estate was purchased in 2009 by Michel Reybier who also owns Château Cos d’Estournel in Saint-Estèphe. The original owners selected the seven finest parcels in the area, hence the name—Hét-Szőlő means “7 parcels of vineyard” in Hungarian.
With a return to organic farming and traditional vinification since the new ownership, this historic estate is once again a benchmark for Hungarian wines, as well as for sweet wines the world over.
