I Sodi del Paretaio is a Tuscan red blended from 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. The vines are planted at 5,600 per hectare on sandy, limestone-rich soils, in parcels with south or south-eastern exposure. The grapes macerate for over a week, are vinified in stainless steel and aged in concrete vats. It is medium ruby red, with wild berry, blue flower and tangy spice on the nose. The palate is juicy with balanced acidity, soft tannins and a supple texture.
Badia di Morrona sits in the Pisan hills, in the comune of Terricciola between Pisa and Florence. The estate began as a Benedictine monastery in the 11th century and is now run by the third generation of the owning family, who have built a new winery. Of its 600 hectares, 110 are planted to vines, and all grapes are picked by hand. The estate also produces olive oil, runs on its own solar power, and makes vegan wines.
