No two barrels of bourbon are the same. Their placement in the warehouse, every change in the weather and every day of aging shapes their distinctive notes and flavors. So while most bourbons are made by batching multiple barrels together to create a consistent flavor. Baker's takes a different approach - no batching, no mixing, just one uncompromised barrel per bottle. The result is a true bourbon lover's bourbon. Made for those who enjoy the unique and subtle differences between one barrel and the next. Because at the end of the day, that's what a single-barrel bourbon is all about.. Number 16 in the Top 20 - Poor Baker Beam, great-nephew of Jim Beam. His eponymous Baker's bourbon ended up a sleeper bottle alongside rightfully lauded Booker's bourbon and stellar limited editions of Knob Creek. But this year, Baker's has reason to boast, as it gets the single-barrel treatment. It will remain 107 proof and a minimum of 7 years old. However, the addition of details like barreling date, age, warehouse, and barrel number will make for fun treasure hunting. Our bottle offered a lush palate of blackberries, delicious dried fruits, licorice, and cinnamon.
Opening nosings detect concentrated, litchi nut, deep-roasted grain scents; aroma turns baked, buttery, oaky and almost brandy-like with aeration. Palate entry is integrated, sweet, and slightly peppery; at midpalate there's a sweet oak/vanilla rush that backs off prior to the finish, leaving behind taste traces of spirity heat, vanilla extract, cake frosting, butter cream and resin. Evokes thoughts of Cognac, in particular, from the Borderies district. Best Buy.. PROOF 107ABV 53.5%AGING 7 years Liquor
