Bodegas Chacra Barda Pinot Noir is a red wine from Patagonia, Argentina. It is pure, minerally and powerful, with concentrated flavors of red plum and dried raspberry and strong meaty notes. Sandalwood accents linger on the finish alongside caressing tannins.
Piero Incisa della Rocchetta founded Chacra in 2004 to find the most unobstructed expression of the climate and terroir of Mainqué in Río Negro. The vineyards are farmed on organic and biodynamic principles, and they preserve ungrafted old vines. Yields from the old vines are very low, at 1 to 1.5 kilos per plant. Fermentation uses indigenous yeasts in small cement vats below 20°C (68°F), and the wines are settled by natural decantation without filters. They age in French oak barrels.
