Bodegas Chacra Chardonnay is a white wine from Patagonia, Argentina, made from Chardonnay. The 2024 vintage comes from the Mainqué area of Río Negro.
Piero Incisa della Rocchetta founded Chacra in 2004 to capture the climate, micro-climate, and terroir of Mainqué as directly as possible. In Patagonia, a chacra is a plot of land set aside for fruit growing. They farm organically and biodynamically, preserve ungrafted old vines, and invest in apiculture. The old vineyard gives very low yields of 1 to 1.5 kilos per plant. Grapes are picked in the small hours and selected twice, once in the vineyard and again at the winery. Fermentation uses indigenous yeasts below 20°C (68°F), and the wines are settled by natural decantation without filters. Piero aims for wines that are pure, delicate, and floral, with strong minerality.
