Borgo del Tiglio Collio is a white blend of Friulano, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc from the Collio appellation in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. Made from mature vines, it is round and expressive. Light use of oak adds depth to the mouthfeel, while crisp fresh fruit and white flowers come through.
Nicola Manferrari trained in pharmacology, more from family tradition than passion. When his father died in 1981, he took over the family's 5 hectares, 3 of them planted with vines, and found his calling. He worked by instinct, and was the first in Friuli to use bilateral Guyot pruning, only to learn it was common in the Loire. He taught himself French to read viticulture texts, and relies on his chemistry and biology training and his palate to guide the wines.
