Borgo del Tiglio Ronco della Chiesa is a white wine from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy, made from Friulano. It is the most serious wine from the cellar, with intense, clean varietal character and slightly tropical notes pushed by toffee, pear, and almond.
Nicola Manferrari trained in pharmacology, more from family tradition than passion. When his father died in 1981, he took over his father's "hobby": 5 hectares of land, 3 of them planted with vines. There he found his calling. He followed his instincts, and was the first in Friuli to use bilateral Guyot pruning, only to learn it was common in the Loire. He taught himself French to read texts like F. Champagnol's Phisiologie de la Vigne, and combined that with his chemistry and biology training to let his palate guide the wines.
