Carpineto takes its name from the Greek, carpos, meaning fruit. Co-founded in 1967 by Giovanni Carlo Sacchet and Antonio Mario Zaccheo, Carpineto quickly developed an international, award-winning reputation for consistently elegant wines. Sacchet and Zaccheo originally set out to produce a world-class red wine from Chianti Classico. Their vision expanded to include three additional properties in Tuscanyโs most prestigious appellations โ Montepulciano, Montalcino, and San Gimignano โ with a total of 424 hectares of land under vine. Carpinetoโs viticultural and enological practices allow it to successfully produce traditional wines using modern, innovative methods that maximize the potential of the terroir. The winery prides itself in its sustainable, low-impact farming techniques and adheres to a strict production code which features renewable energy and preservation of biodiversity. Focused on quality, Carpineto even imposes stricter quality standards upon itself than those outlined in the DOCG regulations.
