Chacra Pinot Noir Cincuenta y Cinco is a red wine from Patagonia, Argentina. Fruit for the wine comes from a 10-acre plot, about 20 years old, on the ridge (barda in Spanish) of the 1932 vineyard. The wine is named after this plot.
Piero Incisa della Rocchetta created Bodega Chacra in 2004 to find the most unobstructed expression of the climate and terroir of Mainqué, in Río Negro. The vineyards are farmed on organic and biodynamic principles, and they preserve ungrafted old vines and invest in apiculture. Yields are very low, 1 to 1.5 kilos per plant. Fruit is picked in the early morning, and bunches that fall short are left for the birds. Fermentation uses indigenous yeasts in small cement vats below 68°F, with no filtration. Their aim is wines that are pure, delicate and floral, with strong minerality.
