Charles Joguet Chinon Cuvée Terroir is a 2023 Cabernet Franc from Chinon in the Loire Valley. It blends a parcel from Beaumont-en-Véron, on the alluvial soils of the Vienne River's left bank, with press wine from all the domaine's other cuvées, aiming to show the harmony of Chinon's terroirs. A cold maceration leads into a ten-day fermentation at warmer temperatures. Malolactic fermentation happens in tank over the winter. After several rackings, the wine ages in tank and is then bottled.
Charles Joguet took over his family's domaine in 1957, leaving a young career as a painter and sculptor. He stopped selling grapes to negociants and vinified each vineyard separately. Today Kevin Fontaine oversees the vineyards and cellars, with a team farming thirty-six hectares of Cabernet Franc and bottling nine cuvées. Charles still lives on the property. The Cuvée Terroir belongs to the line made to be drunk young.
