The 2024 Daniel Chotard Sancerre Rouge is a Pinot Noir from Sancerre in the Loire Valley of France. It has lovely Pinot Noir fruit and a dark purple color. The wine is fully versatile and ready to drink now.
Daniel Chotard and his wife, Brigitte, live in the village of Reigny, just outside Sancerre. His family has made wine for well over two hundred years, though Daniel started out as a teacher. He and his son Simon farm the slopes of Crezancy-en-Sancerre, where flint meets clay and Kimmeridgian limestone. They farm sustainably and treat the vines with organic composts. Daniel harvests later than his neighbors, which gives less of the acidity typical of the appellation, and aging on the lees rounds the mid-palate.
