This 2023 Sancerre is a Sauvignon Blanc from the Monts Damnés hillside in the Loire Valley. It is pale yellow with green highlights. The nose is aromatic and complex, with lemon and grapefruit alongside apricot, peach and pear. Ageing in wood barrels adds toasted, spicy and vanilla notes. The palate is round and expressive, with citrus and wood flavors and a clear mineral streak.
Domaine Bailly-Reverdy was created in 1988, though the family has held its vineyards since the turn of the century. Franck Bailly leads the domaine, and his nephew Aurelien has most recently joined him. They work 22 hectares, all within the Sancerre appellation. Five of those are in the village of Chavignol, with plots on Les Monts Damnés, Les Comtesses and Les Bouffants.
