Domaine d'Aupilhac La Boda is a 2017 red from Montpeyroux in France's Languedoc-Roussillon, made from Mourvedre, Syrah, Carignan and Grenache.
Three generations of the Fadat family have farmed the eighteen-hectare Aupilhac lieu-dit in Montpeyroux, across the river Hérault from Daumas Gassac and Grange des Pères. Sylvain Fadat registered the domaine as a vigneron indépendant in 1989. The vines sit at almost 1,200 feet on terraced, southwest-facing land below the village's château ruins, in soils rich in prehistoric oyster fossils. In the Cocalières amphitheatre, he planted and terraced a steep, rocky vineyard himself. His fruit is certified organic, and he plows regularly to push roots deeper. He believes vineyard work shapes a wine's quality more than cellar work. Their wines balance ripe fruit and silky tannins, and they are meant to appeal both young and aged.
