If you decide to return that item, your progress would also go back down to $50 – it's just like you hadn't bought the item in the first place.

The Domaine de la Commaraine, its Clos of 3.75 ha and its Chateau have roots far back in the history of Burgundian wine production as they have existed since the 12th century. The monopoly-vintage Clos is one of the most prestigious premiers crus in Pommard and one of the most highly-regarded Climats in Burgundy. In their work into great wines of Burgundy in 1892, Danguy and Aubertin specify that "in terms of the most well-known climats, let us cite la Commaraine in first position." This opinion is endorsed by Jean-Francois Bazin in his work "Le vin de Bourgogne" ("Wines of Burgundy"), in which he states that le Clos de la Commaraine is one of the three climats in Pommard which could perhaps be recognised as a grand cru. The Pommard terroir extends predominantly over clay limestone soils, which is coloured red by iron oxides. Situated on the northern slopes of the appellation, on the Beaune side, le Clos de la Commaraine produces very perfumed, generous wines, which are highly refined and well-balanced. We have carried out in-depth studies in order to gain a better understanding of the Clos de Commaraine terroir and to help us produce great wines. The first phase was an analysis of soil depth and types using electromagnetic resonance, which enabled us to create an initial map of the clos by dividing it into eight sub-plots. For the Domaine's first harvest in 2018, these eight sub-plots were harvested on different dates and the wine from each plot was produced and aged separately. A second stage was to dig twenty ditches in the Clos in order to verify the first results of the electromagnetic resonance analysis and to improve the map of the Clos, which will help us to adopt different wine production techniques in the different sub-plots that make up the Clos. The third stage was an analysis of the composition of the soil taken from the ditches which had been dug. The fourth phase will take place in the spring of 2019 and is an analysis of the plant-based material that makes up the Clos in order to determine whether it is in symbiosis with its terroir and whether it is necessary to make changes to cultivation techniques to achieve the most perfect match possible in terms of soil and plant-based material. The Clos has been cultivated using ultra-sustainable techniques for several years and converted to organic farming practices in 2017. Biodynamic practices are being introduced progressively. The 2018 harvest is the first since the revival of this emblematic estate, on which we hope to produce great wines that will be available from 2020.
