Domaine de l'Alliance Definition Bordeaux Blanc is a white blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon from Bordeaux. The vines average 50 years old. The wine was previously called "Bordeaux Sec." It is vinified in barrels that have held at least three previous wines, then raised on its lees with regular stirring for a year before bottling.
Valérie and Daniel Alibrand started Domaine de l'Alliance in 2005, when they bought vines from Valérie's side of the family in her hometown. Daniel had been an Atlantic fisherman. They farm seven hectares in Fargues, in Sauternes, next to the château of the same name. Their old vines yield just 10 to 13 hectoliters per hectare. They began with lutte raisonnée and are now in the three-year conversion to organic certification. The salamander on the label honors the many they find in their vineyard.
