Domaine des Roches Neuves Franc de Pied is a Cabernet Franc from Saumur-Champigny in France's Loire Valley. The name refers to ungrafted vines, and this cuvée is a recent addition to the domaine's lineup.
Thierry Germain left the Gironde for the Loire in 1991 and took over Domaine des Roches Neuves in Varrains, on the edge of Saumur. The estate covers 28 hectares and has been fully biodynamic since the 2005 vintage, with three horses helping in the vineyard. Grapes are picked by hand at full ripeness, vinified in small batches and bottled unfined and unfiltered. His reds have moved from a concentrated, tannic, oaked style toward wines of purity and silky structure. Revue des Vins de France named him its Meilleur vigneron de France in 2011.
