Domaine des Roches Neuves Saumur-Champigny Cuvée La Foulée is a Cabernet Franc red from Saumur-Champigny in the Loire Valley, France.
Thierry Germain left the Gironde for the Loire in 1991 and took over Domaine des Roches Neuves in Varrains, on the outskirts of Saumur. The domaine covers 28 hectares. His reds have shifted from a concentrated, tannic, oaked style that recalled his Bordeaux origins to wines of purity and silky structure. The vineyard is worked naturally with the help of three horses and has been fully biodynamic since the 2005 vintage, and it is certified organic. Grapes are picked by hand at full ripeness, vinified in small batches, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Germain also makes a white cuvée, a zero-dosage sparkling wine with local growers, and a Saumur-Champigny from ungrafted vines called Franc de Pied. Revue des Vins de France named him Meilleur vigneron de France in 2011.
