Domaine du Pélican Arbois Chardonnay Grand Curoulet is a 2023 white wine from Arbois in the Jura, France, made entirely from Chardonnay. After harvest, the grapes are lightly crushed before pressing, and fermentation takes place in foudres and barrels. The wine is aged in 500L barrels, none of them new oak.
Domaine du Pélican is the Jura project of Guillaume d'Angerville. He was inspired to search for vineyards there after tasting Stéphane Tissot's Arbois Chardonnay Les Bruyères 2005 blind in a Paris restaurant and mistaking it for Burgundy. He leased Chateau Chavanes in Montigny-les-Arsures, which came with 5 hectares of biodynamically farmed vines. A further 5 hectares, never touched by chemicals, were formerly farmed by Jean-Marc Brignot. In 2014 he also took over 4 hectares from the retiring Jacques Puffeney. François Duvivier leads the team in the Jura.
