This is a 2023 white wine made from Savagnin in Arbois, in France's Jura region. The name indicates a skin-contact (macération pelliculaire) style.
Domaine du Pélican is the Jura project of Guillaume d'Angerville. He was inspired to search for vineyards there after tasting Stéphane Tissot's Chardonnay Arbois Les Bruyères 2005 blind in a Paris restaurant and mistaking it for a Burgundy. He leased Chateau Chavanes in Montigny-les-Arsures, which gave him 5 hectares of biodynamically farmed vines, replanted ten years earlier by the former owner. Another 5 hectares, never treated with chemicals, were previously farmed by Jean-Marc Brignot. In 2014, when Jacques Puffeney announced his retirement, Guillaume took over 4 hectares of his vineyards. François Duvivier leads the team in the Jura.
