This 2022 Côte de Nuits-Villages is a red Burgundy made from Pinot Noir. The nose is pretty and clearly Pinot Noir. The palate has juicy flesh, and the balance of tannin and acidity is elegant, even by Burgundy standards.
Domaine Gachot-Monot is a family estate created around 1890 in Corgoloin, on the border of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Five generations have run it, and Damien and Liselotte Gachot manage it today. Marguerite Monot ran the vineyard alone from 1950 to 1980, and her daughter Marie Therese and her husband Jean Pierre Gachot renovated and replanted it. Damien joined in 1993. The roughly 14 hectares, mainly Pinot Noir, lie across Corgoloin, Comblanchien and Nuits St Georges, with pruning, fruit selection and manual leaf thinning done by hand.
