Poignées de Raisins is a red Côtes du Rhône made entirely from Grenache. The grapes are picked by hand and sorted, then partially de-stemmed. They macerate for 15 days in raw concrete vats and ferment with natural yeasts. The wine ages 6 months in vat, with a light addition of sulfite after malolactic fermentation, depending on the vintage.
Domaine Gramenon was founded in 1978 in Montbrison-sur-Lez, in the Drôme Provençale, at 350 meters altitude in the northern part of the southern Côtes du Rhône. The soils combine limestone, sandy layers and clay. Many Grenache parcels are 50 to 120 years old, and new vines come from massal selection. The vineyard has been farmed organically since 1978. After climatic setbacks in the 2000s, the team turned to biodynamics and earned Demeter certification in 2010.
