Domaine Guy Breton Morgon Vieilles Vignes is a red wine from the Morgon appellation in Beaujolais, made from 100% Gamay. It comes from vines that are 80 years old. The 2024 vintage is the one listed here.
Guy Breton, known to friends as Petit Max, took over the family domaine from his grandfather in 1986. Before that, the family sold its fruit to the large cooperatives. He joined Marcel Lapierre, Jean-Paul Thévenet and Jean Foillard in a back-to-nature movement inspired by Jules Chauvet, later dubbed the Gang of Four. They returned to old vines, no synthetic herbicides or pesticides, late harvests, strict sorting, minimal or no sulfur, and no chaptalization or filtration. Breton farms three hectares around Villié-Morgon, in the Saint-Joseph and Grand Cras microclimates, where naturally low soil pH supports his sulfur-free winemaking.
