La Pinède is a red Collioure from Languedoc-Roussillon in France, made from Grenache, Mourvedre and Carignan. The black Grenache gives a concentrated, fruity nose with small hints of fresh berries. The mouth is round with silky tannins, and the wine can be enjoyed young.
Vincent Cantié and Christine Campadieu took over two small, family-owned domaines in Collioure and Banyuls in 1981. Their vineyards sit on steep schist terraces above the Mediterranean, where the Tramontagne wind keeps yields naturally low and the grapes free of mildew with little need for pesticides or copper sulfate. The slopes are worked by hand, schist walls and irrigation canals prevent erosion, and grapes are carried out in baskets at harvest.
