This 2023 Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune Mont Battois is a 100% Pinot Noir red from Burgundy, France, with 13.5% alcohol. Domaine Lebreuil ferments Pinot Noir after full de-stemming and a cold maceration at 8 degrees centigrade with daily pumping over. Fermentation lasts about 10 days, with very little press wine used. The wine then ages in barrel for 14 to 16 months.
The Lebreuil family estate in Savigny-les-Beaune began in 1935, when Jean-Baptiste Lebreuil's grandparents bought two hectares of vines. His father Pierre grew it to seven hectares, and the domaine now covers 9.5 hectares around the village. Jean-Baptiste joined in 1999 and aims for vividly fruity wines with finesse and soft tannins. In the vineyards he prunes strictly to reduce yields, plows five times a year, and has used no herbicide or pesticide since 2003. Biodynamic practices began in 2011.
