The characters of complanted BURLENBERG come almost exclusively from its terroir of silicified oolithic crinoidal limestone, close to those found in Cotes de Nuits (Clos de Beze - Bajocian crinoidal limestone). This hard limestone forms a degraded limestone soil, dirty yellow, thin, light, clay-free, low fertility, limited water and rich in limestone, gravel and scree granite. This floor accommodates beautifully Pinot Noir where it is conferred a marked color, qualitative tannin, a certain virility and a great ability to be aged.
