Domaine Ostertag Alsace Sylvaner Vieilles Vignes is a white wine made from Sylvaner in Alsace, France. This is the 2024 vintage.
André Ostertag trained in Burgundy, then returned to the family domaine in Alsace, where he lowered yields and brought in viticultural and winemaking techniques from other regions. He began working with KLWM in 1996 and moved his fourteen hectares to biodynamic viticulture in 1997, including his flagship parcel in the Muenchberg Grand Cru. He looks for the nuance of terroir rather than varietal typicity, and he created his own categories in place of the A.O.C. classifications: Vins de Fruit, Vins de Pierre and Vin de Temps. Most of his wines ferment fully dry, which makes them versatile at the table. When he uses oak, it comes only from the Vosges Mountains.
