Domaine Taupenot-Merme Auxey-Duresses Rouge is a 2023 red Burgundy made from Pinot Noir in the Auxey-Duresses appellation.
The domaine was created in 1963 in Morey St Denis, when Jean Taupenot married Denise Merme. Brother and sister Romain and Virginie Taupenot now run it, and Romain merged the family's two estates, in Morey St Denis and St Romain, when he took over in 1998. Their 13 hectares span 20 appellations across the Cote, split among Grand Cru, Premier Cru and Village wines. Romain moved from lutte raisonnee to organic viticulture in 2001. Fermentation uses indigenous yeasts, and the wines age 12 to 14 months on fine lees without racking, with about 20% new oak for Village wines. They then rest 3 months in stainless steel and are bottled without fining or filtration.
