This is the 2023 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru from Domaine Taupenot-Merme, a red Burgundy made from Pinot Noir in France's Côte de Nuits.
Domaine Taupenot-Merme is in Morey St Denis. Jean Taupenot and Denise Merme founded it in 1963, and their children Romain and Virginie Taupenot now run it. Romain merged the Morey St Denis and St Romain estates when he took over in 1998. The domaine has 13 hectares across 20 appellations, split among Grand Cru, Premier Cru and Village wines. Romain moved from lutte raisonnée to organic viticulture in 2001. Fermentation is natural with indigenous yeasts, followed by 12 to 14 months on fine lees without racking, with 40% new oak for Grand Cru. The wines are bottled after three months in stainless steel, with no fining or filtration.
