Domaine Thillardon Chénas Les Blemonts is a 2023 red wine made from Gamay in Chénas, the smallest of the Beaujolais crus.
Brothers Paul-Henri and Charles Thillardon run the domaine. Paul-Henri began making wine in 2008 from 3 hectares, convinced that Chénas had long been unfairly overshadowed by Moulin-à-Vent. He has since added parcels and now works 12 hectares. He has farmed organically from the start, uses biodynamic treatments, and works some vineyards with a horse. In 2009 he met Fleurie winemakers Jean-Louis Dutraive and Yvon Métras, who became his mentors. He moved from partial destemming and a more Burgundian approach to semi-carbonic fermentation in 2014, and to fully cool semi-carbonic in 2015.
