Varietal: 100% Sauvignon Blanc Vinification: Cold tank stainless steel fermentation with extended skin contact & 6 months of lees aging with daily batonnage for body and complexity. Tasting notes: fresh and aromatic on the nose, combines appealing citrus fruit aromas of lemon and grapefruit, with an elegant mineral hint. Direct from the outset, the wine develops into a rich, fresh and lively palate culminating in an harmonious fruity and persistant finish, characterised by the well-balanced liveliness and minerality of Sauvignon Blanc on limestone soil, the signature of NĀ°1. Dourthe "Number 1" Blanc is made entirely from Sauvignon Blanc, whose rich, aromatic character is backed by great structure. Dourthe selects grapes from diverse terroirs at their various chateaux located throughout the appellation. The aromatic richness is enhanced by a highly specific vinification process, fine-tuned more than 30 years ago, consisting of maceration on the skins and low temperature fermentation. The wine is then aged on the fine lees, with batonnage, for 6 months, which strengthens the harmony of the wine and adds depth and longevity on the palate. Dourthe produces its own wine under the āNumber 1ā label, and also owns 9 Chateaux throughout the various Bordeaux appellations crafting estate wines.
