Source: 100% Cabernet plots from Château Rahoul / Graves AOC Soil: Deep Gravel mixed with sandy-clay. Aging: in amphora for 12 months The name ‘La Gravière' is a nod to the deep gravel soils where Cabernet Sauvignon is revealed in its full glory. Four different soils can be identified in this parcel: sandy-gravel brunisol on clay-sandy gravel, peyrosol gravel-sand, iron-rich, neoluvisol gravel- sand on clay, and sandy luvisol soils with some deep gravel on sandy-clay. Cabernet Sauvignon is a late-ripening variety that copes well with lack of water and therefore well suited to well-draining soils. Gravel soils heat more quickly, absorbing the heat during the daytime and slowly releasing it during the night, in so doing accelerating the vine's growth cycle. In this attractive, deep crimson wine, Cabernet Sauvignon reveals all its power and intensity, with powdery tannins that coat the palate. Subtle, smoky character, typical of Graves, combines with a spicy dimension reminiscent of liquorice. Aromas of tobacco, violets and cherry-dominated dark fruits add the finishing touch to the appealing bouquet. At Dourthe we are passionate about Bordeaux's diversity and multiple terroirs. This passion is the force that drives us to constantly push our limits to deliver new experiences and amaze wine lovers. With ‘Les Parcellaires de Dourthe', we have embraced a new, innovative plot-by-plot approach to single varietal grape selection resulting in a collection of unique, exclusive wines, sourced here on our estates. 'Les Parcellaires de Dourthe' wines challenge the accepted view of Bordeaux as a region of blended wines.
