This wine was created with the idea of using the different varieties of grape to express the excitement and magic that takes place inside a circus big top marquee: vibrant performances, colourful and always surprising, full of talent and diversity. Its artists inspire this El Circo brand, originally made up of nine varietal wines, each related to a circus discipline, to transmit the same feelings and emotions of this fantastic spectacle to everyone who tries our varietal wines. El Circo is produced by Grandes Vinos, a union of five cooperatives established in 1997. Grandes Vinos has more than 700 winemakers and 11,200 acres under vine. 60% of vines are head pruned and dry farmed. Additionally, sustainable practices are followed in the vineyards: winemakers optimize vineyard irrigation, harness solar energy, practice end-to-end waste treatment, and use pheromones to eliminate insecticides. Carinena is located in the province of Zaragoza in Aragon, Spain. The second oldest D.O.P. in Spain, Carinena is dry with a range of micro-climates due to its location at the foothills of the Sierra de la Virgen mountain range; altitudes across the region range from 1,300-2,800 feet. These variations result in a wide range of wines, from ripe and robust to aromatic and steely. Additionally, a cold, dry cierzo wind blows in from the north to cool the grapes, reducing mildew and enhancing sustainable viticulture practices. In Carinena, Garnacha is the dominant grape, making up about half of the region's production.
