Orkney, Scotland - Highland Park 25 YEAR OLD was the first spirit ever to receive a perfect 100 point score at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge. The remarkable complexity of this whisky owes a great deal to its maturation in a high proportion of the finest quality first-fill sherry seasoned European oak casks. These casks impart astonishing flavor and the 25 Year Old's impressive richness and depth prove it.. In an epic battle of sherry butt versus peat smoke, the luscious barrel notes of dried fruit and acacia honey narrowly win. The delicate smoke reappears on the palate and nicely balances the barrage of decadent barrel flavors. A truly transcendent whiskey with complexity and body to spare.
Smells smoky, along with nuances of sea salt, flowers, cookie batter and light toffee. Entry is oily, oaky and richly salt-and-peppery; the midpalate is where all the components merge into a crescendo of elegant and potent maritime single malt flavors.
